Official Sources and Credits
Last updated:
All of La Ruta del Papa's information is checked against official sources. Here are the sources behind each section, the photo credits, and how to tell us if you find a mistake.
The visit and the schedule
The schedule, venues and times are based on official statements from the Holy See, the Apostolic Nunciature in Peru and the Peruvian Episcopal Conference. Dates and events may change: we update them as they are officially confirmed.
Where to eat
Chiclayo's restaurants, with their addresses, phone numbers, photos and ratings, come from the Provincial Municipality of Chiclayo's “Ruta del Papa · Food” guide. We only list those rated 4.0 or higher (checked September 26, 2026). The King Kong from Lambayeque links to San Roque, the brand that created it, according to its official website.
Tourism and gastronomy
Tourist sites and traditional dishes are based on information from PROMPERÚ, Peru's Ministry of Culture and specialized sources on Peruvian tourism and food. Opening hours, prices and access may change: check them before you go.
History section photos
Each photo in the History visual archive shows its credit: Trujillo Cathedral is by Juniperi (Wikimedia Commons, CC0); Msgr. Prevost as bishop, by Infobae; his episcopal ordination in Chiclayo (2014), by the Provincial Municipality of Chiclayo; the greeting from the balcony of St. Peter's after his election (2025), by El Comercio; and the greeting to the faithful from the popemobile, by Reuters, as published by Vatican News.
Images
The Chiclayo restaurant photos belong to the Provincial Municipality of Chiclayo and their authors, and are shown with credit. The Cajamarca Cathedral photo is by Pitxiquin (Wikimedia Commons, CC BY-SA 4.0). The History section photos are credited above. The rest are free-to-use Pexels photographs and do not necessarily show events of the papal visit. The Pope illustrations and stickers were created for this project.
