A life in motion
1975Arrival in Peru
Robert Francis Prevost arrives in Peru as an Augustinian missionary. His calling to serve leads him through communities of the northern coast and highlands, forging deep bonds with the Peruvian people.
1985—1998Service in Chiclayo
For over a decade, he serves as pastor and formator in the diocese of Chiclayo. His pastoral work ranges from training seminarians to social projects with rural communities in Lambayeque.
2014—2023Global service
He is appointed Bishop of Chiclayo and later Prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops in Rome. His Peruvian experience shapes his vision of the Church in Latin America.
2025Papal election
On May 8, 2025, Cardinal Prevost is elected Pope, taking the name Leo XIV. He becomes the first Pope with deep ties to Peru, marking an unprecedented chapter.
2026Return to Peru
The November 2026 apostolic visit represents a return to the land that shaped his vocation. Lima, Chiclayo, Cajamarca, Cusco, and Pucallpa symbolize the three regions of Peru: coast, highlands, and jungle.

Is the visit free? Do I need to register?
The public events of the apostolic visit are free and open to everyone. There's no registration through this site — it's an informational guide, not the event organizer. How do I get to each city?
Lima, Chiclayo, Cusco, and Pucallpa have airports with regular connections between them. The Cajamarca Mass takes place in Santa Cruz de Succhabamba, which is reached by road. Each destination page lists its region and key stops on the route to help you plan ahead.
